Overview:
Dallas-headquartered, Broadcasting & Internet company targeting the African-American community, parent company of The Tom Joyner Morning Show & www.blackamericaweb.com, is seeking an experienced Brand Manager.
The Brand Manager will manage positioning, campaigns and tune-in for broadcast and internet at Reach Media Inc., featuring The Tom Joyner Morning Show and cross-platform media brands that include radio, BlackAmericaWeb.com, destination events, community initiatives that directly involve an audience of eight million, as well as sponsorship integration. Candidate must have strong creative and communication skills as well as strategic planning and organization with ability to manage multiple budgets and projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Development of marketing plans, creating modular campaigns that work for consumers, ad sponsors, affiliate relations, local stations, entertainment groups and events and public relations.
- Work directly with Marketing Director for development of graphic and creative elements, packaging, while developing copy/content, response and follow-up action.
- Manage new product launch and development for either Reach Media projects or Syndication One programming talent.
- Develop an annual marketing plan/schedule and budgets.
- Project management of new promotions/events from participation in idea generation to full execution by working with Executives.
- Research, develop and distribute presentations for sponsorship/sales use and for Executive proposals.
- Create copy for Affiliate Relations for one sheets, letters/correspondence and prize fulfillment for various events & contests.
- Primary contact and manager for promotions; tasks include tracking winners, writing promos and distributing prize fulfillment letters and packages, as well as creating client / sponsor follow-up letters and filling marketing requests.
- Create “term sheets” for TJMS/Reach projects/promotions and events outlining agreed upon terms for prospective partnerships.
- Manage creative copy, fulfillment, contesting, new initiatives and logistics.
- Write and create marketing copy for BlackAmericaWeb.com pages referring to marketing initiatives, promotions and events.
- Create programming concepts and outline projects and content through presentations and overviews.
- Write on-air promos for Tom Joyner for marketing promotions (:15’s and: 30’s, as well as guideline points), as well as custom promos and scripts for local affiliates for TJMS promotions.
- Write and distribute press releases for Tom Joyner Morning Show local efforts.
- Coordinate events with affiliates (Affiliate Tour) keeping those involved informed with spreadsheets, calendars, contact numbers, etc.
- Consistently present on management calls to manage marketing efforts and projects (Various programming promotions, Fantastic Voyage, Tom Joyner Family Reunion, other destination events and community initiatives such as Take a Loved One tot he Doctor Day, Back to School and Mistletoe Jam holiday event).
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Highly organized, able to effectively prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects ensuring accuracy.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact proactively with staff and managers at all levels.
- Able to meet deadlines while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or other related field.
- Two plus years background in media marketing.
- Full understanding and command of budget management.

Manager, College Relations - Tom Joyner Foundation Overview:
The College Relations Manager will report to the Director of College Relations and share the responsibility of program development, fund development and community relations for the Foundation.
Candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising initiatives, innovative programs and marketing strategies for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) supported by the Tom Joyner Foundation.
The College Relations Manager will take an active role in developing and implementing processes to best promote, enhance, manage and sustain the Tom Joyner Foundation. The Manager will have a proven record of accomplishment executing special events that will generate major gifts for the Foundation.
Candidate must have a willingness to learn new and creative fundraising and marketing methods, flexibility and the ability to think “outside of the box” will be essential for success in this position. The ability to manage in a confidential environment while enhancing the Foundation is mandatory.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage continuous relationships with all Historically Black Colleges and Universities supported by the Tom Joyner Foundation.
- Execute the School of the Month (SOTM) program, the Foundation signature program, to include but not limited to assisting the schools with formulating and implementing its fundraising partnership plan, structuring and implementing a marketing program to successfully execute the SOTM program, identify creative “out of the box” methods to raise funds for SOTM partner, and executing programs that may coincide with SOTM partnership
- Develop and implement special programs or fundraising ventures with designated HBCUs, per the request of the College Relations Director, President/CEO and/or the Board of Directors.
- Coordinate and execute special events for SOTM partners, corporate partners and donors that can generate major gifts for the Foundation.
- Coordinate a reporting process of scholarship recipients for current Schools of the Month partnerships.
- Develop a process for donation distribution and tracking.
- Work with the College Relations Director to develop corporate and community partnerships, which may include but not limited to proposal development and grant writing.
- Compile lists and reports for corporate sponsors.
- Work closely College Relations team (CR Director and CR Coordinator) to support the coordination of special events for the HBCUs and the Foundation.
- Work with College Relations Coordinator to execute the HBCU College Tour program for current SOTM partners.
- Coordinator with the Director to disseminate news links services for information related to HBCUs.
Requirements & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Non-profit Management, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Have at least 3-5 years experience in fund raising and/or marketing/communication in the non-profit industry.
- Excellent communication (written and oral), project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills including the ability to interface with all levels of employees, HBCU contacts at all levels, corporate sponsors, and potential supporters.
- Proven track record with maintaining and enhancing business relationships.
- Complete computer knowledge and ability to efficiently use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, Excel, Power Point, Quick Books and other tools to make the Tom Joyner Foundation an efficient and professional operation.
